Furniture Assembly for a Design Studio Case Study
Each On Point Installations project tells a distinct story. We completed this furniture delivery, assembly, and installation for an out-of-state interior design studio.
Furniture Assembly and Interior Design Challenge Accepted
An interior design firm in Texas approached On Point Installations to bring its designer’s creative vision to life for a Chicago-area client—a senior living community in Oak Brook, IL.
The Scope of the Furniture Assembly and Design Installation
The project required brawn, furniture assembly skills, installation capabilities, collaboration, and a creative eye toward design.
The design studio understood the benefits of our quality furniture installation. For example, we understood that the furniture in senior living facilities can take a beating from walkers, wheelchairs, and canes. The units also turn over frequently. Therefore, the furniture is generally high quality, heavy, well-made, and durable.
Brands such as West Elm, Restoration Hardware, and Kwalu are popular in residences and residential communities, such as senior living facilities. The Texas interior designer chose the furniture, accent pieces, accessories, and other décor elements and oversaw the overall design.
The Brawn: Furniture Delivery and More
One of the value-added services we provide is our “brawn.” To start the project, we supplied the muscle and heavy-lifting, collaborating with the studio’s interior designer.
In this case, we addressed the following:
- Unloaded the heavy boxes and furniture from the trucks.
- Moved the boxes of sturdy furniture and accessories to their appropriate locations within the residential facility.
- Unboxed the furniture, accent pieces, and furniture accessories.
The Skill: Furniture Assembly, Installation, and Placement
Depending on the type of furniture and how it arrived, the rooms required furniture assembly and/or installation. Some furniture pieces arrived assembled. In that case, we unboxed them, brought them where they belonged, and staged them appropriately.
The Value-added Services: Art Installation, Window Treatments, Accessories, and Photography
In addition to the furniture assembly, installation, and placement, we provided additional value-added services:
- Artwork installation and/or placement
- Accessory placement with the designer’s guidance
- Window treatment installations
- Furniture photography services through our special offer
The interior designer then set the table, placed the linens on the mattresses, and put the final touches in the model.

For this model bedroom, we delivered and installed all the furniture: headboards, end tables, lamps, and dressers. We also hung the artwork and installed the window treatments. We placed Books by the Foot on the nightstand and bookshelves.
We installed towel bars, mirrors, shower curtains, and artwork in the bathrooms. We also unboxed and assembled the accessories, such as soap dispensers, makeup mirrors, and plants, according to the designer’s specifications.
For the great room within the model unit, we delivered, unboxed, assembled, installed, or placed the furniture. In this view, you can see the round kitchen table we built, the club chairs, and the island with standard-height stools. We also unboxed and added furniture accessories.
We assembled a desk, chair, lamp, and accessories in an alcove. We also installed the window treatments and artwork.
In a second model bedroom, we assembled the dresser, built the bed frame, and attached it to the headboard. We installed the window treatments and the accent mirror on the wall. We also unboxed all the accessories.

In a second office space, we placed an accent rug, desk, chair, lamp, silk plant, mirror, and other accessories. We assembled, installed, or arranged all these pieces and installed the artwork.
We delivered the sofa and added the cushions. We also unboxed and/or assembled the furniture and the accessories (e.g., plants, pillows, and throws). This photo also showcases the installed window treatment and artwork. Notice the staged kitchen island in the foreground.
In another model bedroom, we installed a console and wall art accents. We also arranged books, plants, and other accessories with the interior designer’s creative guidance.
In this view of the bedroom, you can see the bed with pillows, artwork installation, end tables, lamps, installed drapes, books, and a comfortable armchair. We carried the mattresses, built the bed frames, and attached them to the headboards. We also unboxed the pillows, throw, and other furniture accessories.
The common dining area required the unpacking of armchairs and building the tables. Furniture accessories we placed included wing chairs, occasional tables, plants, and other accoutrements.
In the updated conference room, we installed a large conference table and artwork. We also placed comfortable, durable club chairs.
The elevator foyers included accent furniture, such as this console table. Comfortable armchairs, lamps, and accessories helped to complete the look.
In the shared area kitchen, we placed stools of varying heights. The building contractors had already completed the millwork. (We also provide millwork installation.)
We assembled tables, chairs and barstools in a common room.
